The Awakening

Israel is now, and always has been, the apple of God’s eye. That has never and will never change, because God is not through with Israel. We as believers are grafted in as the wild branch. We are the branch that is reconnecting to its roots and to the tree. We are heirs to the covenant of promise and are of the seed of Abraham, the Father of the Jewish people.

This is a revelation that was like an awakening for Pastor Larry over twelve years ago, while he was in Israel. Knowing that something was missing, and ready to quit the ministry, he reluctantly made the trip to Israel. It was during his tour there that something life-changing happened.

One day, he along, with the rest of the tour, as his friend Rabbi Joseph Shulman were walking among the ruins of an ancient synagogue in the seaside city of Capernaum. There was a sign placed there by the descendants of the apostles as a dedication to the Lord. As the group moved forward, Pastor Larry walked slowly by the sign. Suddenly a question entered his mind. "Why, he thought, would the descendants of the apostles dedicate a synagogue to God?" "After all, they weren't Jews, they were Christians." He pulled Joseph aside for a moment and asked what he had been thinking. Hearing Pastor Larry’s question, Rabbi Shulum answered, "Larry," he said, "The early believers went to synagogue. They were Jews, just like Jesus."

His answer stunned Pastor Larry. For all the years of his Christian life and ministry he had never heard such a thing. Yet he knew it was true. He had been lied to. He had missed the truth about the roots of his faith. Jesus was Jewish. The apostles were Jewish. And the early believers in Jesus the Messiah were Jewish.

Suddenly for him, it was like a great awakening. His eyes were open and he saw the Jewish roots of his faith for the first time. It was revolutionary. And his life and faith have never been the same since. The roots of his Jewish heritage had been hidden and covered up by men’s traditions. But what he discovered that afternoon, he is sharing with others today.

In these last days, God has promised that He would go raise up a people that would be reconnected to their Jewish roots. Pastor Larry is helping believers around the world to get grafted back in so that they too can partake of the root and the fatness of the olive tree of Israel as the seed of Abraham.
