Mezuzah
The mezuzah is a kosher parchment scroll that is rolled up and put into a decorative case and placed on the doorposts of the home in observance of Deuteronomy6:4-9 and 11:13-21. The commandment in Deuteronomy 11:20 says, “And thou shalt write in on the doorposts (mezuzot) of thy house (mezuzot) and upon thy gates.”
The children of Israel put the mezuzot on the doorposts of their homes during the liberation from the bondage of Egypt. The word is also used to describe the gates of the Temple of Solomon and the temple described in Ezekiel’s vision. They are a daily reminder that we are bought with a price and that our homes are dedicated to God.
Q: Does the mezuzah have supernatural power?
A:
If you go to my house, you’ll see the mezuzah covering. The mezuzah is actually the scroll that’s on the inside. It’s not a charm. But is there something supernatural about obeying God and taking His word and taking His promises and putting it on the doorpost of your house to let every mailman and every salesperson, everybody that walks in your house know that this is the home of a child of God. It says to the world around us, I am a child of God, I’m covered by the blood of Jesus Christ, and I have the covenant promises of God, that I am blessed when I come in and I’m blessed when I go out.
When Israel was coming out of Egypt, God said when I see the blood on the door, I will stand in front of your door, in front of your money, in front of your children, in front of your marriage, and I will forbid the angel of death to destroy your family any more. The door to your family now is your heart. The seven sprinkles of blood - is the Garden of Gesthemane, the whipping post, the crown of thorns, in His hands, in His feet, in His side, bruised for our transgressions, wounded for our transgressions, bruised for our iniquity. The blessing’s there.
Q: Does the mezuzah keep curses from my home and bring a blessing?
A: Yes. Let me remind you of something. The High Priest used to go to the door of the tabernacle. But you are that tabernacle of God now. When the High Priest would do the sacrifice, He would put the curses on a goat and send it to the desert. If that goat found its way back and returned, the curses would come back with it and block God’s blessing. So while that goat is gone, there’s a period of freedom. There’s a period of peace. There’s a period of healing. There’s a period of prosperity. And if the goat dies in the wilderness the peace and the prosperity lasts for another year. But if that goat comes back to Jerusalem, the period of peace ends and the blessing is blocked.
Matthew Chapter 12, verse 43 says when an unclean spirit goes out of a man, he goes to a desert place seeking rest and finding none. Then he says, “I will return from my house from which I came, and when he comes, he finds it empty, swept and put in order. Then he goes and takes with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter and dwell there, and the last state of the man is worse than the first state. So it shall be with this wicked generation.” We say “Devil, I bind you. I rebuke this thing off of my marriage, I rebuke this thing off of my children, I rebuke this thing off of my finances, and it goes out. And we’re feeling a season of prosperity, we’re feeling a season of blessing, we’re feeling a season that maybe our marriage is going to work, we feel a season where we’re getting along with our kids. But that spirit goes out to the desert place, comes back in. How does it know that the house is swept and clean and garnished? Because the door is still open and is sees into the house, and it realizes these people have not put the seven places Jesus shed His blood on their home and lives. How many places did Jesus shed His blood? How many other spirits come back in? So we cast out debt, we cast out poverty, and it has to obey you. Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven. Whatever you loosen on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
So that mezuzah on your doorpost is a reminder that every curse is broken by the seven places Jesus shed His blood and every blessing is released.
Q: How many mezuzahs should I put in my home?
A: Bible says to put it on every door. Put it on your children’s door, put it on your bedroom, put it on your office - every place. Put it on your garage, every place except the bathroom. And when you walk in it’s a reminder to you that, I am blessed in my coming and I am blessed in my going, I’m blessed in my family, I’m blessed in my house, I’m blessed in my body. It’s also going to be a sign not only to you that you’re blessed, but it’s going to be a sign to you and the enemy that this house is blood-bought. This house is blood-covered. This house has the anointing of God, and God himself will stand at the door of your house and make every angel of darkness pass you by. He’s not coming in any more, he’s not getting his seven demons and coming back any more. We are shutting the door once and for all, and we’re reminding ourselves we have a covenant with God that cannot be broken. Deuteronomy Chapter 28 says, “Now it shall come to pass if you diligently obey the voice of the Lord your God, to observe carefully all His commandments which I command you today, that the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations, and all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you because you obeyed the voice of the Lord your God. Blessed shall you be in the city, blessed shall you be in the country, blessed shall be the fruit of your body and the produce of your ground and the increase of your herds and the increase of your cattle. Blessed shall be your basket and your kneading bowl. Blessed shall you be when you come in and blessed shall you be when you go out. And the Lord will cause your enemies—now look at this—the Lord will cause your enemies to rise up against you and be defeated before your face. They shall come in—they shall come out against you one way, and they will flee before you—they will flee before you seven different ways.” “Devil, you may have come in one way, but you’re fleeing seven different ways by the blood of the Lamb.”
